Rufete

    • Geographical distribution
    • The 98% of this red variety is mainly distributed throughout the province of Castile and León, very characteristic of the Sierra de Francia DO. In Portugal, it is mainly cultivated to the east of Beiras, as well as in the regions of Dão and Douro. It is also permitted in Port wine.


    • Agronomic features
    • Sensitive to powdery mildew (Erysiphe necator). Not very resistant to drought and heat strokes, it adapts to cool soils with high clay content.


    • Phenology
    • Date of budbreak: early
    • Date of maturity:early


    • Oenological features
    • Musts with low acidity and a high pH. It contributes delicate aromas reminiscent of red fruits and spices. On the palate, they are fine, complex, and persistent.
