This white grape variety is distributed across the center of the Iberian Peninsula, especially in the Gredos Mountains, where Avila, Toledo and Madrid provinces find each other. Albillo Real is the most common white grape in the Madrid DO, together with Malvar. In Castilla La-Mancha Albillo Real is cultivated in the DOs Manchuela and Méntrida
It is a variety resistant to plagues and diseases except for the powedery mildew (Uncinula necator). It is susceptible to the spring frost, because its budbreak is very early. It resists drought and is well adapted to sandy soils.
Produces musts with a straw yellow color, with sweet fruity aromas and medium-low acidity. It is used for young wines and barrel fermentation.
