Cayetana Blanca

    • Geographical distribution
    • Wine variety mostly distributed in the south of the Iberian Peninsula (Extremadura and Andalusia). It is particularly common in the DOs Montilla-Moriles and Ribera del Guadiana, being a preferential white grape in the latter.


    • Agronomic features
    • Cayetana Blanca winegrapes are very sensitive to the oïdium (Uncinula necator), botritys (Botrytis cinerea) and mite species such as Colomerus viti and Calepitrimerus vitis. It withstands drought well and is adapted to soils with little humidity retention, slightly fertile and sandy.


    • Phenology
    • Date of budbreak: late
    • Date of maturity: late


    • Oenological features
    • Their wines have a pale-yellow color with green hues, soft aromatics, although somewhat fruity, reminiscent of banana and apple. It is used to produce acidic and low-grade wines, dedicated to distillation to achieve good quality alcohols and produce the famous “holandas” (i.e. brandy liquor).
