Fernão pires

    • It is the most cultivated white grape variety in Portugal, but it is more relevant in the regions of Lisbon, Tejo, and Bairrada..


    • Agronomic features It is sensitive to early frosts due to its early budding. It struggles to withstand water stress. It is susceptible to powdery mildew and somewhat less to downy mildew.

    • Oenological features It presents aromas of citrus fruits such as lemon, mandarin, and orange, as well as floral notes of roses. Additionally, it is common to find hints of aromatic herbs or spices, and even honey. It yields medium-bodied musts intended for consumption when young. Aging well in the bottle is only achieved in cases of very high quality.
