Garnacha Tintorera

    • Geographical distribution
    • It covers a great extension of winegrowing of Spain, but mainly in Castilla La-Mancha, in the DOs of Almansa and Manchuela, in Galicia and in the Comunidad Valenciana, where Garnacha is cultivated most DOs.


    • Agronomic features
    • Garnacha Tintorera winegrapes are very sensitive to fungal infections from the downy mildew (Plasmopara viticola), excorise (Phomopsis vitícola ) and are also sensitive to wood diseases. It is a drought-tolerant variety, but its production improves with water availability given its high-water requirements. It is very susceptible to both wind and spring frosts.

    • Date of budbreak: early
    • Date of maturity: medium-early


    • Oenological features
    • This grape generates very intense wines that have traditionally been used in mixture with other varieties to enrich wine coloring. The wine color is a red intense with moderate alcohol content and adequate acidity. It has red berry aromas.
