It is cultivated in the DO Vinos de Madrid, where is considered white grape preferential, and also in the DOs Mondéjar (Castilla-La-Mancha) and Ribera del Guadiana (Extremadura).
It is very resistant to plagues, disease and drought. It is easily adaptable to every kind of soils, though it prefers clay soils. The Malvar grape is somewhat susceptible to spring frosts. Because of its early ripening this variety is frequently attacked by birds.
It produces greenish color wines with slight aromas of bitter almonds, medium-high acidity and moderately high alcoholic grade.
